Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What are kiln-dried hardwood logs?
Kiln-dried hardwood logs are logs that have been dried in a kiln to reduce their moisture content to below 15%. This process ensures the logs burn more efficiently, produce more heat, and generate less smoke and creosote buildup compared to seasoned or air-dried wood.
2. Why should I choose kiln-dried logs over seasoned logs?
Kiln-dried logs offer several advantages over seasoned logs. They have a lower moisture content below 15%, which ensures easier lighting and more efficient burning. They produce a higher heat output because drier logs generate more heat, effectively warming your home. Additionally, they offer a cleaner burn with less smoke and soot, resulting in reduced creosote buildup in your chimney. Kiln drying also provides uniform dryness, ensuring consistent performance.
3. What type of wood are your logs made from?
Our logs are made from 100% premium oak hardwood, known for its high heat output and long-lasting burn. Oak is dense and provides a steady, reliable source of heat.
4. What is the size of the logs?
The logs are cut to an optimal size of 22–25 cm (±30 mm), making them ideal for most wood-burning stoves and fireplaces.
5. Do the logs come with kindling?
Yes, each purchase includes a 2.5 kg bag of high-quality kindling to make starting your fire quick and easy.
6. What are the dimensions of the crate?
The crate measures 1.16m x 0.75m x 1.02m and holds approximately 1m³ of neatly stacked logs. This is equivalent to approximately 2no. builder’s bags.
7. What is the loose volume of the logs, and how much does it cost?
The loose volume is approximately 1.62 m³, offering excellent value at £123.14 per m³ (including VAT).
8. Are your logs sustainably sourced?
Absolutely. We are committed to environmental sustainability. Our logs are responsibly harvested from certified forests, ensuring minimal impact on the environment.
